Interview Tips

The most important impressions made about you are made within the first 10 seconds of an interview.

  • Always arrive early, look smart, make eye contact.
  • An employer needs to know they can work with you and that you can become part of their team. So be yourself, be real and be approachable.
  • Know what your short and long term goals are in relation to a new post.
  • Things like career opportunities, training potential and technical growth are as important as your day to day role and working environment.
  • Feeling nervous? Arm yourself with info on a prospective employer. Prepare questions for the interview, which will help you decide whether or not to accept, if you are offered the job.
  • Be knowledgeable and interested in the company concerned.
  • Be prepared to discuss your weaknesses, but try and turn it into a positive.
  • Have questions in mind that you are going to ask at the end of the interview.
